At the end of the first session of The Elijah Challenge Training at mission-minded New Canaan Baptist Church, a vibrant God-fearing congregation in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, we asked for people with heart disease to come forward to be healed in the name of Jesus Christ. Using the authority and power He delegated to His disciples in Luke 9 and 10, we would minister to them.
Luke 9:1 When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
Luke 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. …9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
A women in her late forties or early fifties stepped forward. She had a malfunctioning valve which caused her heart to enlarge. We had three women come forward to lay hands over her heart, and lead them in exercising authority over the disease by issuing commands to her heart in the name of Jesus Christ. The three sisters could feel the Lord’s power flow into her heart as they laid hands on her (cf. Mark 5:29-30). The woman herself felt “goosebumps.” Afterwards I told the woman to run around the sanctuary. She took off and ran around the sanctuary three or four times. When she returned to me at the front I asked her how she felt. She replied with a smile that she felt fine. Earlier she would not have been able to run like that with her enlarged heart.
Then I asked her to pick up a heavy object, something she was forbidden to do with her enlarged heart. I pointed to one of the woman standing by her side who had just ministered to her, and asked her to lift the woman up off the floor. She went to her and picked her up with a bear hug, lifting her off her feet. I then counted off ten seconds. Then she set the woman back down on the floor. With a smile she said that she felt fine. (Every day afterwards during our four-day event she had normal energy. She was making plans to see her doctor for tests to document that her heart had indeed been miraculously healed.)

Then we called to the front all who had any kind of heart disease. About a dozen people came forward. Believers came forward to minister to them in Jesus’ name with authority and power. Afterwards all of them ran around the sanctuary twice, and all but one reported feeling a definite change in their hearts enabling them to run as they had just done. (The one had no apparent symptoms to begin with.) Some testified with delight that their earlier weak hearts were now beating strong even after their circling the sanctuary twice. Elzi who served as a worker in the church in the days afterward was going about her life and ministry in a most normal fashion with no more symptoms of her heart condition. See Elzi’s photo below.
