The worldwide pandemic will likely cause changes in evangelism, in particular on the Third World mission field. After the dust settles, people may very well be reluctant to assemble in large crowds to hear the gospel or even to be fed. Perhaps this is the time to return to the gospels: how did Jesus send his disciples out to proclaim the kingdom of God?
.
Luke 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
.
…9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’
.
Jesus sent the seventy-two disciples out two by two to heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom of God, meaning they were ministering to people on a personal level and not in large gatherings. This is exactly how our Luke 10 harvest workers in India have been trained and sent to preach the gospel of the kingdom.
.
Since the end of 2017/beginning of 2018 our Luke 10 harvest workers in India have led 12,800 Hindus to Jesus Christ, and planted 407 house churches as of April 2020. According to our calculations, the cost for reaching and then discipling one soul in India is in the range of $6.00 per believer. This amount includes our trained workers ministering to the new believers in weekly home church meetings where they worship the Lord, pray, and are discipled through teaching from the Scriptures. So this amount includes far more than simply the cost per salvation.

Jesus commanded us to “make disciples” of all nations, not just converts.
.
The above calculation does not include the cost per soul reached in our formal evangelistic gatherings where crowds normally gather, but rather only through our Luke 10 workers (see below for a more detailed description). Due to the pandemic, future prospects for our Evangelistic Feeding Events where hundreds of people assemble are not quite clear.
.
.
BUT the Luke 10 approach where our trained workers go two by two into unreached regions to heal the sick and proclaim the kingdom of God after which they plant house churches will not be affected. It might even prove to be a key for future evangelism in the Third World.
