What we are now witnessing in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected virtually the entire world may be a prelude of the worldwide plagues to take place as written in Revelation 9.
Revelation 9:18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
What was God’s purpose in sending these plagues?
20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.
The reason for these plagues was the sin of mankind, specifically idolatry (which is equivalent to greed), sorcery, sexual immorality, murders and thefts. Greed has been rampant throughout the entire world as man’s greatest priority in life has been the accumulation of much wealth for physical comfort. In the West, many have turned away from the faith and instead look to the New Age and its sorceries & witchcraft. Unbridled sexual immorality is now the norm in the West as man has rejected biblical values.
During these Last Days because of the pandemic it would appear that we will never return to life as before. The phrase “the new normal” is being accepted. Perhaps we will never return to “church as usual” as well.
Disciples of Jesus Christ should realize what time it is and prepare themselves.
Matthew 24:36 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
.
“Eating and drinking”
In the days just before the flood, the lost were “eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage”—enjoying their lives according to the empty and sinful ways of the world. Then the flood came and took them all away. It will be like this at the soon appearing of Jesus Christ.
…42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
Luke 12:45 But suppose the servant says to himself, ‘My master is taking a long time in coming,’ and he then begins to beat the other servants, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk. 46 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers..
This is a solemn warning to servants of God. Some have deceived themselves into thinking that God wants them to be materially wealthy to enjoy the luxuries of the world in order to glorify God before the world. Nowhere is this emphasis found in the New Testament. Such servants of God are hypocrites and descendants of the Pharisees—who loved money.

The Pharisees are alive and well today
