in Indonesian Borneo in 1979
.
On October 28, 2025 during our mission trip to Indonesia we were headed for a meeting scheduled for us where we thought we would meet with a few of the believers we had led to Jesus in 1979. At that time over a period of three months, we had been preaching the gospel in the remote villages of Biang and Menjaya on the banks of the Kapuas River. But when we arrived at the event that day in October 2025, we were overwhelmed and totally surprised by the welcome we received.
.
Most of those who came out to meet us as we arrived we had actually never met. Many were the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Brother Su Fong—the “man of peace” (Luke 10:6) who had received us into his home when we first arrived in Menjaya in the fall of 1979. A few of his children still remembered us. Later, during the three months that we lived in their midst, once a week in Su Fong’s wooden dwelling we would share the gospel and teach God’s word.
.
After we arrived, we were led to a meeting place where the crowd who had been awaiting our arrival first worshipped the Lord in song. Then several family members came forward to introduce themselves to us, how they heard of us, and how the Lord has blessed them and their families in various ways as they follow Him. We were absolutely amazed at the Lord’s abundant goodness to the 69 descendants of Brother Bong Su Fong who had been the very first in that village to welcome us and the gospel of Jesus Christ. This dear brother had gone home to be with His Lord 25 years ago in 2000.
.
Never before have we had such an experience in our 47 years of full-time ministry..
