In 1978 my wife and I left America to take the gospel to peoples living in primitive regions of Indonesian Borneo who had never heard of Jesus. At that time I had known Jesus for two years and had not finished reading the Bible. I had not led a Bible Study or taught Sunday School, but with my bullhorn had preached the gospel on the streets of Southern California. We had no training for missions, no mission agency or church to send or support us. I had no idea what we were going to do after arriving in Indonesia—except to trust the Lord. And God opened doors for us to “dance on the edge of the earth” for nearly nine years. By His grace we led to Christ many souls bound in the grip of witchcraft, idol-worship, and false religion. We saw many people miraculously healed and set free from demons. We made disciples and planted churches. This is the account of the unusual challenges and the mountain peaks we experienced as we followed our Messiah Jesus to the ends of the earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Supernatural Challenges They Faced

Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2026

Format: Paperback

William and Lucille Lau’s journey into the jungles of Indonesia is a daring experience. This young missionary couple braved some of the most unique and horrific territories when they took the gospel to Borneo and other parts of SouthEast Asia. These remote and resistant areas were plagued by witchcraft and manifested demons. In order to cast out an illness one would actually summon a witch doctor or sorcerer who would invite a demon to take over. Although the witchcraft seemed strong, in the end it was no match for the faith filled energy Brother Bill and Sister Lucille were about to unleash.

The full strength of the Holy Spirit was at work through them, although they came on the scene armed only with their faith and the Word of God. They tackled one sickness after another. By the power of the Holy Spirit, demoniacs were cleansed, sickness no longer had a hold on the bodies of its victims and the Lord set many endangered souls free. Free from illness, from strongholds, from torturous thoughts and dreams, and free to accept the Holy Spirit power.

With God, all things were possible, but not without its trials and challenges. A ministry was begun in their own home to teach discipleship the way Jesus taught his disciples. The full weight of the Elijah Challenge was in their hands. Even some of the Sorcerers reluctantly came to realize that God was now in control. The story of William and Lucille Lau is remarkable but intense, full of compassion, tears, and always glowing with the glory of the hope that is found in Jesus Christ.

As a Christian Film producer I’m excited to reveal my intentions of producing a future TV series based on this remarkable journey.
